Street Culture Tribute Sculptures
“What’s Up People” is a five-piece sculpture series by contemporary artist Huang Yulong, blending classical craftsmanship with modern street culture. Trained in traditional fine arts and ceramic sculpture, Yulong brings academic precision to raw, urban expression. As a former hip-hop dancer, his life in the streets — immersed in rap, dance, and youth culture — fuels the emotional core of his work.
This collection — represents anonymous figures from China’s street art scene. Faceless yet familiar, each character stands as a tribute to everyday artists and creatives who live authentically, outside mainstream norms. Through baggy hoodies, layered puffers, and expressive stances, Yulong captures their presence, pride, and resistance.
Each sculpture is made of resin, blending the refined techniques of ceramic artistry with contemporary streetwear silhouettes.
This series is Huang Yulong’s homage to the spirit of the streets — a sculptural salute to youth, resistance, and creative freedom.
